Beauty of Culture-

Friday, June 24th, 2011

When you read more about other cultures in other parts of the world, you realize and understand better that things really are different as well as traditional anniversary gift idea.

Where you grow up and the values that are instilled in you from your local environment is your culture. Growing in the Philippines means that you place value in family and respect the elders as well as authority. More importantly you belong to a culture that’s so filled with endless problems that you learn to get by and endure by laughing it off.

It’s not the same in other cultures and countries. Neighboring countries such as South Korea and Japan are seldom ridden with problems. And they deal with it in isolation and depression. This is why many of them become hostile and commit suicide.

As you learn more about the differences, you get to appreciate more about life. The beauty of culture is simply overwhelming and one that everyone must know about.

Happiness -

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

I want to be happy all the time and it’s something that I know most people feel as well. Happiness is a wonderful feeling that can help us get through the most gruesome times of our lives. Did you know that apart from the great feeling that happiness brings into our lives, there’s actually a great health benefit as well?

I’ve read a health journal that states that constantly being in a good mood can keep our body healthy and even prevent occurrence of heart attacks. When people are stressed, the organs are stressed as well and function poorly.  So if you’re making personalised baby blanket as part of your daily routine, you are not able to do it greatly. Happiness on the other hand help them function greatly.

So really, it would be nice to be happy.

Circumstantial Success-

Friday, June 10th, 2011

I’m currently reading this wonderful book written by Malcolm Gladwell entitled Outliers: The Story of Success. I haven’t finished reading the entire book yet and already, I feel absolutely enlightened… like the first time i bought this iphone 3gs cases.

Everyone seems to look at success in a certain way believing that in order to become successful, you have to be really smart, hardworking, and persevering. Which is all true but there is another kind of credit due to the circumstances that helped made a person successful.

Gladwell has mentioned a lot of ideas regarding success and that the most successful people in the world had been born at the most opportune moment. I certainly am looking forward to finishing this book.

The Great View

Monday, June 6th, 2011

Sometimes when you want to relax or when you need inspiration, all it takes to have is a great view.

Where I work, there’s a large window overlooking the city and other buildings within the vicinity. After working hard for some hours, when I want to take a breather, I just look out the window and relax.

The great view where I work consist of a number of buildings of different heights clustered together. From my floor, I see mostly the rooftops only and some cars parked. Though I am afraid of heights, there’s still something relaxing about getting to watch all those below.

Misery loves company

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

There’s really no denying that misery loves company.

This age old adage has been constantly quoted by even the most famous people and yet you’ll never truly understand unless you experience it.

I’ve experienced this a lot but a perfect example that I could share from experience is when my phone got snatched.

When I got pick pocketed, I immediately went and got my postpaid plan cut. I was extremely upset at first until I was told that I wasn’t the only victim. There were almost three of us who got snatched in the same area.

I know it was not nice but I couldn’t help feeling happy that I wasn’t the only victim. It was still very upsetting yet at the same time comforting to know that I wasn’t the only victim.

Misery really loves company.
